Beat the High Cost of Internet Access when Travelling

Hotels and mobile operators have come in for a lot of stick recently for the high prices they are charging.  According to The Good Hotel Guide 2007, many hotels charge 'extortionate' prices for the privilege of logging into their local wireless network.  Prices like £5 an hour or £20 per day are common just for a hotspot down in the lobby!  No wonder there are so many refugees from hotels out in the nearby internet cafes.

Don't put up with disappointing services.  If your hotel or travel location has no service in your room, or is charging too much, and if you have a phone jack available, hook up your computer to it and use c1ik to connect.  You can send and receive mail, use instant messaging and of course browse the web in the convenience of your own room.  Everything you need a hotspot for in fact, since you are hardly likely to want to download megabytes of data or stream video on the road.
